Salamanda 晚上的怪異行為，在網上找到答案

自從換了第三個缸之後，Salamanda 晚上很夜都不睡覺，關了燈之後有一個怪異的行為～吃水面。

我一直都以為他換了新缸不習慣以致精神恍惚，也懷疑過他是不是在夢遊、又還是他太餓有幻覺以為水中有食物。

直至在網上看到：

"Another interesting behavior associated with foraging in pond sliders is neustophagia. This type of feeding is similar to that of a baleen whale and acts as a crude filtration process. This process starts by the turtle skimming the water's surface with its lower jaw. In doing this it ingests any small floating food particles along with some water, and stores these in its pharynx. The turtle then closes its mouth and forces the water out through the nostrils. The remaining food particles are then swallowed."

原來是這樣。有些澤龜譬如彩龜屬的巴西龜，他們有一種奇特的吃食方式，他們會吃那些懸浮在水面的微粒物。

看上去他們好像在咬水面，其實他們是張口把那些微粒物連水面吸進咀裏去貯在咽喉，然後合上咀巴，把口中的水從鼻孔噴出來，這樣就能夠留下那些微粒物，然後就可以吞進肚裏去。

我誤會了 Salamanda 好一段日子啊！

看來是因為換了第三個缸之後水面廣闊了、懸浮在水面的微粒物多了，而且一關燈那些微粒物的反射折射改變了，所以特別引起 Salamanda 的注意，才會在換了這個缸之後的夜裏開始有這行為吧。
